The Department of Medicine Residency Program is committed to:

Vision

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center provides its trainees with a rich and diverse range of clinical training and educational experience that will prepare them to be outstanding physicians. We teach and evaluate our residents by the new standards set by the ACGME and ABIM:

A Solid Foundation in Academics and Research

The Department of Medicine at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center is an integral part of Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Attending physicians hold academic titles. Medical students at Columbia receive instruction in Physical Diagnosis, Core Medicine Clerkship, sub-internships and subspecialty electives at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Students from other medical schools are welcome when space is available. All rotations must be arranged via Columbia University.

The Medical Service conducts an impressive research program in its various divisions at the Hospital Center; over $26 million in extramural funding comes to SLRHC, more than half from federal sources, including NIH- funded projects and clinical trials. Many residents choose to fulfill their American Board of Internal Medicine mandated participation in scholarly activity by becoming research partners with our faculty researchers. This program has created a formal curriculum in clinical research.
