The department of medicine is commited to foster skills in order to independently manage all patients and preserve good health.  We strive to develop leadership abilities in the current managed care and evidence based medicine, in quality improvement, and in effective communication.  With no wasted time – it is in complete compliance with ACGME, DOH and ABIM regulations making the expanded curriculum possible

Vision

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center provides its trainees with a rich and diverse range of clinical training and educational experience that will prepare them to be outstanding physicians. We teach and evaluate our residents by the new standards set by the ACGME and ABIM:

  • Patient Care - compassionate, appropriate, effective
  • Medical Knowledge - establish, critically appraise and apply knowledge to patient care
  • Practice-Based Learning and Improvement - investigation and study of one's own care patterns for quality improvement
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills - for effective information exchange with patients, their families and other health professionals
  • Professionalism - responsible, ethical, sensitive to diversity
  • Systems-Based Practices - aware of and responsive to the multidisciplinary aspects of care.
